I grew up at monmouth mall. I pass by it all the time, and I miss the good Ole days. Kb toys, getting pokemon cards at intrinsic ( store with the golden dragon statue in front of it) browsing dvds at Suncoast, band merch at hot topic,laughing at the dildos in Spencer's, and buying w.e girl I was talking too a auntie Anne's pretzel as we walked the stores. The memories are endless.

I was there two weeks ago and it is a big mall, only 4 or 5 stores in the place. Food court only had chick fil a and a pizza place. FYI best taco pizza I ever had

I used to be a buyer for Lazarus, when Lazarus was a big deal but left a year before Macy's bought it. We would make monthly trips there coming from the Columbus buying offices. Always liked that restaurant with the view

This was wild to watch. I grew up in Akron and lived through different parts of summit county most of my life. I had no idea about any of this and have been to most of these locations. As a teenager in the early 2000's we actually used to go hide in those woods near the mall to smoke cigarettes and be delinquents.

I remember going there since the late 90’s till about 2015, good old memories

I met my future wife at this Mall when I was 18 and about to leave for the Army over 20 years ago. And that Chinese restaurant has been there the entire time too, owned and operated by the same smiling man and his family too. Super cool guy. He should own that whole building.

My late brother Robert was a manager at that Record World.

I had no job around that time so I would do drugs and walk through many of the locations that the murders took place. I’d leave my home as soon as it got dark and head home just before the sun rises. I was completely unaware of a serial killer. I like to “thrill seek” so once I heard about the killer my dumb ass took off on foot with a machete and drugs in my system thinking how thrilling it would be to lurk the streets and possibly come across him. This was before I ever heard of The Shadow vision dude. One time I took my dog with me. He is a huge dog too. We encountered a man in that area, he tried to make conversation with me and kept inching closer to the side of me but I kept putting my massive dog between us. I highly doubt it was the killer but I do believe that my dog deterred him from doing something. I gave the thrill seeking a break for some time.

I actually live in this town and it’s so much different looking them this video. Now there is a big bj wholesale and a brand new Dave and busters. It’s also now called Oakdale commons. It could be better but I love it. My grandmother has many collections of news articles and history saved on this building.

Because No Ones Perfect we all Sin. but we need to Not Willfully Sin. and i will admit i have willfully sinned multiple times and I feel Guilty About it So I Repent we Were Made sinners because of Adam And Eve. but we dont need to Sin on Purpose. But We Sin All The Time Because we Humans get Angry and hurt people. and Are Hateful toward people when God commands us to Love Our Neighbors. and Pray for Our Enemies. there is all kinds of Sins. We Are Allowed to Be Frustrated at Peoples Actions. Without getting Angry and injuring People and breaking Stuff. Or Name Calling thats Wrong to. Heaven And Hell Are Real... and after Jesus Christ comes back and calls His Church home. Alot of people will be left behind because of being to caught up with the world and not believing in God. and other stuff And During that time the Anti Christ will reveal himself and Lie to People and Say Hes Jesus Christ. and he will try and Deceive the ones in Israel. and in turn Try and And Deceive the Entire World. and he will try to force People to Receive a Chip in their Right Hand or Foreheads.The Anti Christ hasn't Revealed Himself yet Though. and If you havent noticed they are trying to push for digital currency but we dont know who the Anti Christ Is. Only the ones left behind will know unless people make things right with GOD. Monmouth Mall was a good mall. Hate to say it, but that whole "Town Center" concept doesn't always work out so well. I hope its more successful than the Voorhees Town Center (nee Echelon Mall) in Camden County.

No One Is Ever Completely Safe and There Are No Experts It's An Overused Word Just Used To Make You Feel Safe!😮😢

Online shopping had nothing to do with Lakeside coming to a slow death.. the owner of Lakeside systematically for over 22 years has done everything he could possibly do to run Lakeside Mall into the ground so he could make a financial gain!! That includes, doing everything he possibly could to prevent people from coming back to the mall for shopping: 1. Pushing busing from inner cities into the suburban area, with people that had no intention of shopping and the owner knew he was going to exploit the area from which they came to make people afraid an exploit racism 2. Increased Leasing and renting of locations inside Lakeside Mall to over 460% in the last 20 years, to drive locations out for an easy sale , which when you look in public sales, it shows the owner of Lakeside Mall trying to sell everything since 1992 and before. 3. The mall was built on top of a garbage dump an swampland. The owner bought everything at dirt cheap prices and was looking for a cheap quick Buck to turn everything over since 1976, and is publicly known he was trying to sell it as early as 1987 she couldn't sell it for what he wanted, So the plan went in to demonetize the area in order for a quick sell, all the while working with others to keep the real estate up around the area in the four different cities in Macomb, which include Sterling Heights mainly, Utica, Shelby Township, and Macomb ( which at the time was Utica, until Macomb Township decided to divide it up from Utica and become a completely different city with a new zip code for tax purposes, that made everything more applicable for the owner of Lakeside Mall to turn a tidy profit in the years to come) this was clearly, a Realty scheme from the get-go 4. After forcing numerous retailers out of locations buy highly escalated Leasing and Rental fees , the owner instituted the next phase in brought in low income Deli services, and centralized kiosk locations within the mall at $500-$1550 minimum to give the illusion of making up dividends Owed on property taxes... that money was promptly repurposed into new entrances to give the illusion of keeping the mall afloat. 5. The "golden bunghole"... everyone sees on M59 in Sterling Heights let the mayor and other city board members defend... overestimated between 5 million to 15 million of taxpayer dollars spent. The owner of Lakeside Mall is shown in public records to be a major contributor to this overspending, which is also hidden. It's called money laundering and is serious. 6. Two different major movie theaters in Lakeside Circle & adjacent , lost their business Leasing due to the highly suspicious activities of the Lakeside Mall proprietor attempting to demonetize the area. 7. Rumors that a second Mall a few miles down the road had anything to do with driving Lakeside Mall into bankruptcy is complete and utter nonsense!😂🎉 8. As part of the new real estate in commercial deal , two of the main stores that stayed afloat JCPenney and Macy's at Lakeside Mall will still be doing business on the same ground when things are rebuilt, as part of the real estate deal set forth by the owner of Lakeside Mall . The owner made himself a multi-million-dollar deal, hence 20 years after he tried to demonetize everything, but found a way to cash in with the city officials of Macomb County! I invoke My First Amendment right for freedom of speech and this will be recorded and I am protected under both the Bill of Rights of the state of Michigan and the Constitution of the United States of America

Although each death was tragic one has to realize how many millions of 0 to 13 year olds lived in the 1950s - 1970s and that the number of victims were could be counted in the dozens. The hysteria in the comments is not fully justified.

Thanks for making this video, so many great memories of going to this mall with friends. This mall was home to one of the last t a Suncoast Video stores long after they closed a majority of them and it was always fun to go into to buy dvds .

I went to Monmouth University from 2001-2003 and dormed there. So, me and my friends went here all the time during those years. It was a beautiful mall and was ALWAYS packed every time we went there from 2001-2003. Sad to see it has closed. I also have family that live about 15 mins from this mall in Red Bank. I went to this mall once with them back in 2002 and they bought me the Kobe Bryant Adidas space looking sneakers for Christmas at the Foot Locker in this mall back for Christmas in 2002. I also went to the movies here multiple times with my girlfriend in this time period here at the Monmouth Mall back in 2002. Great times that I will always remember and covet. Concord Mall in Delaware is also dead with only Macy’s and Boscoff’s as their anchor stores and the rest of the mall with one off non chain stores except for a (very) few chain stores. It’s a dump. I loved the Exton Square Mall, it’s a beautiful mall but sadly it also a victim and the retail decline 😭😭

See you got infrastructure money you bring these people in you show them how to pour concrete do roofing work hang sheetrock do plumbing work and you re-establish this as living quarters for these people, you are now giving people job skills and your rebuilding the community😮😮 just like the migrant workers you send them into these towns and cities that's been devastated by hurricane tornadoes floods and you let them rebuild these communities and establish themselves as workers in the United States😮
